  2. Works like a charm! 5 Star Review

Great product and super easy to install. It did its job by preventing floating plants away from my HOB filter.

  3. Wish I'd Bought This Sooner 4 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Dec 2017

Good product. I got the 10" which is several inches larger than needed for my Aquaclear30 HOB filter (protecting the outflow area only, not including the intake tube as pictured in the product description) but it gives me options to rearrange things down the road.

As others mentioned, the cut mesh is sharp and could hurt fish. I covered the edges with Loctite Clear Silicone, which is aquarium safe and cures quickly. It would be a 5-star product if it came with this protection or offered it for an extra charge. I wouldn't have minded paying an extra dollar or two to buy it that way as the silicone tube costs $5 and the guard only needs about 15 cents worth of it.

My floating plants are much happier. I'd buy this item again.

  4. May be user error... 4 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Apr 2017

This seems to be a great product, but mine detached from it's suction cup when I was trying to re-position it on day 2. Maybe it was the way I tried to de-tach it. Will likely buy another & try again.

  5. Awesome! 5 Star Review

Ordered a 15" one to cover my overflow box, it was a bit short, but discovered I can use it to make some other shape/arrangement and this is ingenious, especially with the idea Han put to attach moss, and other type of plants to it, it will become virtually hidden barrier.

  7. Very helpful 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jan 2017

A bit skeptic I decided to give them a try.. Got 2 and love them.. they really do keep the plants from getting in the way and then getting blasted down and then clogging the intake.. VERY easy to install. I just ordered another one today... Thank you so much..

  8. Wonderful Idea! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Nov 2016

This little invention has saved lots of frustration. I had some floating plants in my tank and they would always float towards the filter and then get pushed underwater. My mother would say the plants looked like they were dancing. Unfortunately, the "dancing" made the plants die. I bought two of these guards and they work great! I bought new plants and I have no more "dancing" plants. Like the other few reviews, the edges are very sharp and can injure fish. Maybe in future designs you could add aquarium silicone on the edges or add some rubber edges. Rubber edges like the rubber you use for the filter guards you sell here. Regardless of the sharp edges, I would buy more in the future if needed and will definitely suggest these to friends!

  9. Good quality, but sharp edges 4 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Oct 2016

What a great idea! I have a lot of duckweed that was getting sucked underwater and caught up in moss. I ordered 2 for my AquaClear20 filters. It's well made and works great. My only complaint (like another review) is the sharp edges. It could tear my beautiful halfmoon betta's fins. I realize the description suggests attaching moss, but that's not my plan. I had an airline tube on hand for a quick fix. I slit it open long ways, clamped it onto the SS mesh edge, and tied it on with fishing line. For a permanent fix, once I get aquarium sealant on hand I'm going to make a thin line around the edges. Otherwise, I would give it a 5 star rating and would purchase again reguardless.

  10. Very sharp! Not safe for long finned fish! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 24th May 2016

I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 because it may have been my fault for not looking at the photos well enough, but this plant guard is SHARP. It's made out of thin metal mesh that is left with sharp points on each side that will tear up any fish with long fish, which I have. Luckily I own a hot glue gun, so I simply covered the downward facing edge and now it works like a charm! If you don't have fish that hang out on the surface or have long fins, then it is probably not an issue.
